Manipura chakra yoga

This week's focus is the Manipura Chakra, also known as the Solar Plexus Chakra, is the third energy center in our body and is the seat of our personal power, confidence, and vitality. Located just above the navel, this chakra is associated with the element of fire, representing transformation.

When balanced, the Manipura Chakra fuels our ambitions, boosts our self-esteem, and energizes us to pursue our goals.

To fire up the Manipura Chakra, focus on poses that engage and strengthen the core.

We'll be visiting Plank Pose (Phalakasana) this week to build heat. Start in a push-up position with your arms straight and your body forming a straight line from head to heels. Hold this position, ensuring your hips don’t sag, to feel the burn in your abdominal muscles. To enhance the effects, combine these poses with mindful breathing, perhaps visualising a bright, golden light radiating from your centre.

Boat Pose (Navasana) is another good core strengthener. Sit on the mat with your legs extended, lean back slightly, and lift your legs off the ground, balancing on your sit bones. Extend your arms forward parallel to the floor and hold. See pic below!

You may also try Warrior III (Virabhadrasana III), which requires balance, strength, and concentration. Stand on one leg, extend the other leg back, and lean your torso forward until your body forms a T-shape. This posture engages the core while fostering a sense of empowerment and stability.
