This half term, we have been considering the yoga 'koshas' in class. These are the five layers we need to pay attention to and look after, in order to cultivate a peaceful life.
Vijnanamaya Kosha is one of these layers.
Vijnanamaya Kosha is often called the "wisdom body,". It represents our intuition and deep understanding beyond day to day thinking. Yoga helps us tune into this inner wisdom, with benefits extend far beyond the mat. When we cultivate Vijnanamaya Kosha in daily life, we make better decisions and trust ourselves more.
Instead of acting on impulse or fear, we learn to pause, reflect, and choose responses that align with our values and long-term well-being.
Practicing awareness in simple moments—like noticing how a certain conversation makes you feel or listening to your gut before making a decision—strengthens this wisdom body.
Meditation, journalling, or quiet walks in nature can help you tap into it. The more we connect with this layer, the more life flows effortlessly, helping us cultivate peace, confidence, and authenticity in everything we do.
